Wrangler-in-Training (WTP) Description

WTP focuses on developing your horsemanship skills, working with people and horses at the same time, and your personal relationship with Christ.

Plan for early mornings and late nights - this is the life of a wrangler-in-training at Camp Evergreen. It's a whole lot more than just sitting on the back of a horse. During the WTP program, you will learn to work with horses at various stages of development. Learn about round penning, equine health care, and arena work. That doesn't mean that you won't spend time in the saddle: there will be lots of wranglers only rides, time to get involved in the camp community, and games with the kids. And on top of all that, your relationship with Christ will be stretched and challenged like never before through sessions and devos with your leaders. Grow as a Christ-like leader, a team player, and take a look at what it takes to be a Camp Evergreen wrangler.

Sounds like a lots of work? No worries. There will be plenty of horsing around ... in a very safe and responsible manner, of course. (Camp Evergreen wranglers are expected to be responsible and safe and fun ... it's part of the job description.) We can't wait to see what God is going to teach us together this summer!

To register for WTP, please submit an online application. Once we've received your initial application, we'll email you with a secondary - but essential - application that includes questions about you, your faith and what you're looking for in the WTP program. You'll also need to find some folks who know you well and can fill out reference forms. Your spot in WTP will not be confirmed until we've received the completed secondary application. Space in this camp is limited. Applicants will be selected based on horsemanship experience and personal maturity.
