Our Pond Hockey Tournament began in 2009. It has become, in many ways, a staple event in our winter season here at Camp Evergreen. From plus 5 degrees weather to minus 25 - our Pond Hockey athletes have shown up year after year to play, skate, and fundraise for our camp program. After missing the 2021 tournament due to Covid 19 we are excited to have teams back out to enjoy the sport!
Our Pond Hockey Day is an amazing day: it's competitive, friendly, and good wholesome fun. Bring your family to cheer you on! We run a Kids Skills Competition and Free Skates in the afternoon so don't forget your skates!
Our goal at Evergreen is to draw kids, youth and families to Christ; this tournament supports that exciting, valuable ministry! Please consider partnering with us by participating in this tournament.
We will also have some cool items in our Silent Auction for those who would like to participate without lacing up their skates.
WHO ARE WE?
CAMP EVERGREEN is a not-for-profit year-round camp 14 kilometres south of Sundre, Alberta. We exist to share the good news of Jesus with everyone who sets foot on our site! We offer week-long sleep away camps for kids aged 6-17 in July and August each year. In the spring, fall and winter, our camp is open to guest groups. We also run several annual retreats and family camps, featuring speakers, worship and lots of fun!
I'M A PLAYER
We want you to raise money! Play hockey! Have fun! Score goals! This is a huge fundraiser for us! We have space for up to twelve teams in the tournament, so register before it's too late!
Teams can be made up of four or more players, men or women ... but all players need to be at least 16 years of age and everyone needs to wear a helmet. Our teams from last year would probably recommend that you aim to have five able bodies on your roster. Skill is not required as we hope to have both a competitive and recreational division.
I'M A SPECTATOR
Spectators are FREE. Yep - you read that right, FREE. You still get lunch, supper, and some activities if you choose to participate. Don't forget your wallets for the silent auction and draws. Please register as a spectator (and your kids) so we can prepare the food for the day. Register as a spectator here.
I'M A KID
We will have a mini skills competition this year for the 
kids, Wagon Rides, and will also have a time of games in the Activity Center.
WHEN IS THE EVENT
January 15, 2022. Teams must be registered by January 1st, 2022. Check In on Tournament Day will start at 8:30am.
WHERE
We build our rinks right here at Camp Evergreen. You'll play among the trees, snow and moose.
WHY
Camp Evergreen's Three-on-Three Pond Hockey Tournament raises funds to supplement our operating budget, so we can keep the fees charged to our summer campers and retreat participants affordable, while continuing to offer high quality programming, using safe, exciting and strong infrastructure. Operating funds cover everything from ropes for the climbing wall, feed for the horses and arrows for the archery range to the money we need to bring in great speakers, fantastic worship bands and maintain a top-notch staff team. This year, we're setting that goal for $40,000!
HOW
Team captains will be responsible for filling out their roster and must confirm that they will be able to field a team by January 1st, 2022.
The recommended Entry Donation is $1000 (that's a mere $250 per player for teams of four or $200 per player for teams of five). Teams are encouraged to fundraise as much as possible. To comply with CRA, there is a $20/player non-receiptable fee. There is no limit for players on a team.
SILENT AUCTION
Every year we run a silent auction alongside the tournament, and this year we have some very exciting items for you to bid on. Some of these include:

COVID-19
We want to keep everyone safe and still do our best to provide an awesome time for anyone who wants to come out to enjoy the tournament. Players do not need to be vaccinated to play in the tournament as it is all outdoors. However we will be implementing the REP program in our dining hall which means in order to eat in the dining hall players and participants will need to be vaccinated or provide a negative test. Anyone not qualifying for the REP program can still get food but will have to eat outdoors.
