What Makes Camp Evergreen
So Special?
The heart of Camp Evergreen
Camp Evergreen is a place where faith is developed, fun is unavoidable and life-long relationships are forged. We desire to serve God wholeheartedly, to recognize that it's not by our own power, but by the power of God that people's hearts are changed and it’s our role to live, work and play in an environment of celebration, love and hope!
Mission
Camp Evergreen is a place for all to connect, explore, and grow. We exist to see lives transformed by the power of Jesus.
Vision
Camp Evergreen is a year round camp invested in creating amazing spiritual, educational, and recreational outdoor experiences. We value outreach, community, leadership, stewardship, and partnership in all we do.
Values
-
Outreach
We seek, through our actions and words, to share the Good News of Jesus Christ with everyone we encounter, on or off-site. God has revealed himself most fully in Jesus Christ as recorded in the Bible. The Bible anchors what we teach. Summer camp ministry is the heart of Camp Evergreen. We intentionally approach year round programming for all guests with the same heart.
-
Community
Our relationships reflect the nature of a loving and caring God. We are authentic and real with each other, creating spaces to help each other grow. We seek to be good neighbors who have positive impact in our community through ongoing relationship.
-
Leadership
We intentionally create opportunities in a safe environment for the next generation of leaders to take risks, learn, and grow. We disciple people to be leaders who are fully devoted followers of Jesus and make a difference in their families, churches, communities, and workplaces.
-
Partnership
We are a primary partner of a group of churches known as ABMB and we partner with missionally aligned churches and agencies in the Alberta region. We look to partner with organizations where there are shared values and the opportunity for outcomes of mutual benefit.
-
Stewardship
We have experienced God's provision. In response we use the resources we have been given to care for, develop, cultivate, and nurture the people we encounter. We purposefully and efficiently manage the resources that we have been entrusted with including assets, funds, finances, staff, land, nature, guests, and time.
Christ-Centred
Camp Evergreen takes its Confession of Faith from the Canadian Conference of Mennonite Brethren Churches.

Our History
The Alberta Conference of Mennonite Brethren Churches founded Camp Evergreen in 1963. Prior to this, all camping ministries of the Conference were hosted at Southern Alberta Bible Camp and Camp Okotoks, southwest of Calgary. A number of individuals, including Peter Rempel, formed a committee to select a site and develop a program for the Conference’s young people. The first camp was held at the present site in the summer of 1963.
Since then, the camp has had eight Executive Directors and hundreds of volunteers; but more importantly, it has seen thousands of kids make lasting commitments to follow Jesus Christ.
We would like to acknowledge that we are on Treaty 6 and 7 Territories in Alberta of the Michif Piyii (Métis), Tsuu T'ina, Stoney, Ktunaxa ɁamakɁis, Niitsítpiis-stahkoii ᖹᐟᒧᐧᐨᑯᐧ ᓴᐦᖾᐟ (Blackfoot / Niitsítapi ᖹᐟᒧᐧᒣᑯ) nations, whose footsteps have marked these lands for centuries.
